Media Release — ASTRA’s perspective on the Victorian Short-Term Rental Bill 2024

ASTRA believes this Bill as a risky and unproven measure, that could fail to address housing affordability while leading to widespread job losses and business closures during a cost-of-living crisis. The Bill could turn small communities into ghost towns and ignores the diversity of the shortterm rental industry. ASTRA urges further consultation with the industry to avoid these unintended consequences for families and older Victorians who rely on hosting for income.
