Media Release - ASTRA calls for code of conduct to be part of WA’s short term rental registration scheme
ASTRA, Australia’s peak short-term rental group, has called on the West Australian government to implement a code of conduct for operators and guests in its new statewide registration scheme starting January 1. Tegan Wilde, an ASTRA director, believes this would raise industry standards and prevent future complications, similar to the success seen in New South Wales.
The WA scheme introduces planning exemptions for hosted and unhosted rentals, with regional flexibility for local governments. Wilde also welcomed the government's decision to extend the free registration period until December 1, ahead of the mandatory registration deadline on January 1, 2025.
