Media Release - ‘Mum & Dad’ property owners urge Government caution on Short Term Rental Regulations

The Australian and New Zealand Short-term Rental Association (ASTRA) has urged the NSW Parliament to adopt a cautious approach to new regulations affecting small property owners, as the government considers taxes and annual night caps on short-term rentals in the upcoming budget. ASTRA CEO Mitch Price highlighted that short-term rentals constitute only 1 percent of Australia's housing stock, and proposed a 2 percent levy on all accommodation types to address social issues, while warning that night caps could harm owners' incomes and local economies.
